Anger Management in Missouri: SIS, Municipal Courts and Your Class
Will a Missouri court take an online class?
There is no state list for anger management in Missouri. Our class is court-accepted in most jurisdictions, your court or officer decides, and you get your money back if the certificate isn't accepted.
Missouri has hundreds of municipal courts, and many of them hand probation to private companies. Your class is whatever your probation order says, and the person who checks it may be a state officer or a private case manager. Here is how to read your order and what to ask.

Missouri at a glance
- Provider list
- No state list. City courts may hand out local provider lists.
- Typical length
- 8 hours for many first city court cases; 12 or 16 for more.

How Missouri courts order an anger class
- SIS and SES probation. Missouri judges often use a suspended imposition of sentence (SIS). You get probation, and if you finish it, there is no conviction on your record. With a suspended execution of sentence (SES), you were convicted but the sentence is on hold. Either way, the judge can set any condition it thinks is reasonably needed to keep you from breaking the law again. State law lists "offender treatment programs" as one option.
- Municipal court probation. Most anger classes in Missouri come from city courts. Many city and associate circuit courts contract with private probation companies to supervise misdemeanor cases. Some of those companies run their own classes.
- State probation. Felony and some misdemeanor cases are supervised by a probation and parole officer from the Missouri Department of Corrections, Division of Probation and Parole. Some district offices run their own anger groups.
- Prosecutor diversion. Missouri prosecutors can run diversion programs, and finishing one can lead to dismissal. Missouri's diversion law is mainly for nonviolent cases, so after an assault charge, a class is more likely to come with SIS probation.
- Orders of protection, family and juvenile courts and employers may ask for a class too.
Your probation order or diversion agreement is the paper that counts.
Is there a Missouri anger management list?
Missouri has no state list for anger management providers. The state only credentials batterer intervention programs (more on that below). Anger classes are handled locally:
- Municipal courts in St. Louis County, like Ballwin, give people a short list of local providers that offer court-ordered programs, including anger management. You pick one from the list, and it's your job to make sure the court gets your certificate before your court date.
- Kansas City Municipal Court runs its own probation and domestic violence programs. We found no published anger management list there.
- Probation and Parole district offices hand out local resource guides that name anger management providers in their area.
Good Standing Courses is not on any Missouri court's or probation office's list. If your city court gave you a list of providers, ask the court clerk or your probation officer whether an online class can count instead.
Not for domestic violence orders
Domestic violence cases in Missouri
Missouri does credential batterer programs. Under state law, the Division of Probation and Parole sets the standards and keeps a list of credentialed batterer intervention programs. Those programs must run at least 26 weeks of group sessions. Judges in order of protection cases can also order a respondent into a counseling program for people who use violence. Kansas City Municipal Court has a domestic violence court with its own required classes.
If your order names a batterer intervention program or a domestic violence program, our class doesn't replace it. Good Standing Courses is not a Batterer Intervention Program and is not on Missouri's credentialed list. If your order lists both, ask which provider your officer will take for each part.
How long Missouri anger classes usually are
Missouri courts set the length case by case; we found no published standard. Lengths that local programs commonly offer:
- 8 hours for many first city court cases and diversion agreements.
- 12 or 16 hours for repeat cases or when the judge wants more.
- 6 to 12 weekly sessions when the order names weeks.
If the order only says "complete anger management," your probation officer or case manager decides the length. Ask them first.

Ask before you buy
What to ask your Missouri probation officer
- "Does my order name a specific provider, or do I pick from the court's list?"
- "Is my probation run by the state or by a private probation company, and who signs off on the class?"
- "Will this court take an online, self-paced certificate?"
- "How many hours, and does the court need my certificate before my next court date?"
- "Is this an anger management condition or a batterer intervention condition?"
Your officer can read our page for probation officers and check any certificate at /verify.
If your court says no
If your court, judge or probation officer doesn't accept your certificate, we refund 100% of the course fee. Send the written rejection within 60 days of finishing; the class you bought must match the type and hours in your order. Read the refund terms.
We never ask for your case number, court or date of birth. If you need them on the certificate, you type them into your own copy of the PDF.
Missouri: questions and answers
Is there a court approved anger management list in Missouri?
There is no state list for anger management in Missouri. Some city courts hand out their own short lists of local providers. Our class is court-accepted in most jurisdictions, your court or officer decides, and you get your money back if the certificate isn't accepted.
What is an SIS?
A suspended imposition of sentence. The judge puts you on probation without a conviction. If you finish every condition, like a class, the case closes without a conviction. If you don't, the judge can sentence you.
My probation is with a private company. Who decides if this class counts?
The judge sets the condition, and the private company usually checks it. Ask your case manager in writing whether they will take an online certificate. Some companies run their own classes and may prefer them.
My order says "batterer intervention." Does your class cover it?
No. Missouri batterer intervention programs are credentialed by the state and run at least 26 weeks. We are not a Batterer Intervention Program.
Can I finish before my court date?
Yes, if you start early. The class is self-paced, your progress is saved after every screen, and the certificate is ready the moment you pass the final test.
