How It Works: From Enrollment Letter to Certificate of Completion
Five steps, no surprises. Here is exactly what you get, what your officer sees, and what we never ask you for.
1. Enroll and get your enrollment letter
Pick the course and the hours your paperwork names, enter your legal name and email, and pay. That's all we ask for.
The minute your payment goes through, your enrollment letter (PDF) is in your inbox and your dashboard. It confirms your name, the course, the hours and your enrollment date, lists the topics, explains how the course is time-tracked, and gives your officer an enrollment ID to check online.
Send it to your officer the same day.
2. Learn — read, watch, practice
Each course hour is one lesson. Every lesson has:
- a short real-life story,
- plain-English explanations (8th-grade reading level) that work on a phone,
- a short animated video explainer with captions, plus illustrations,
- 2–3 short exercises — sliders, sorting, "what would you do" scenarios,
- a private journal prompt (your officer never sees what you write),
- 5 key takeaways and a 5-question quiz. Pass with 80% to unlock the next lesson. Retake as often as you need.
Works on a phone. Your place is saved after every screen.
3. The timer: hours that hold up
Your certificate says a number of hours. Our timer is how we stand behind it.
- It counts active time only — reading, scrolling, watching or listening to the lesson video, doing exercises.
- It pauses after a few minutes with no activity and asks, "Are you still here?"
- It's logged on our server, session by session, with the date and length. That log is what your progress report and certificate are built from.
- It never makes you wait. If you finish a lesson before its hour is up, you get extra practice — more scenarios, more exercises — and that time counts. No staring at a clock.
- Your dashboard always shows "4:12 of 8:00 hours logged."
4. Pass the final test
The final test opens once your hours are complete.
| Course length | Questions | Passing score |
|---|---|---|
| 4 hours | 15 | 70% |
| 8 hours | 25 | 75% |
| 12 hours | 30 | 75% |
| 16 hours | 40 | 75% |
Retake it as many times as you need — you get a fresh set of questions each time. Your best score goes on your certificate.
5. Download your certificate of completion
Before we issue it, you confirm the spelling of your name. Need a fix later? One correction is free.
Your certificate shows:
- your full legal name,
- the course name ("Anger Management" or "Impulse Control & Decision Making") and hours,
- "Self-paced online educational course, time-verified",
- start and completion dates,
- your final test result,
- a certificate ID, a QR code and a short fingerprint code,
- our contact details for officers,
- the line "Acceptance is determined by the referring court or agency."
No extra fee to download it. A mailed paper copy is available as an option.
Your case number stays with you
Many courts want your case number, court name or date of birth on the certificate. There are blank fields for them on your PDF. You fill them in in your browser, on your own device. They are never sent to us, never stored, and never shown on the verification page.
We also never ask what happened or why you're taking the class. Privacy policy →
How your officer checks it
Your officer scans the QR code or goes to goodstandingcourses.com/verify, enters the certificate ID and your last name, and sees: your name, the course, hours, dates, test result and status. If someone edits the numbers on the PDF, they won't match the screen.
You can also download a progress report any time before you finish — hours logged, lessons completed, quiz results, session dates — and send it to your officer.
If your court says no
If your court, judge or probation officer doesn't accept your certificate, we refund 100% of the course fee. Read the refund terms →
Frequently asked questions
What's on an anger management certificate of completion?
Ours shows your full name, the course and number of hours, start and completion dates, your final test result, a certificate ID with a QR code, and our contact details. Your case number, court and date of birth go only on your own copy, typed in by you.
How quickly do I get my certificate?
As soon as you pass the final test. You download the PDF right away.
Is the certificate free?
It's included in the course price. There's no separate download fee.
Does the timer count the video?
Yes. Watching or listening to a lesson's video explainer counts, as long as the tab is open and the video is playing.
What if my internet drops?
Time you've already logged is saved. When you reconnect, you pick up where you left off.
Can I get a paper certificate?
Yes, a mailed paper copy is available as an option. The PDF is included either way.
