Questions People Ask Before They Enroll
Short answers first. If yours isn't here, contact us.
Acceptance
Will my court accept an online class?
Many courts and probation departments accept online anger management and impulse control classes. Ours are court-accepted in most jurisdictions, but the decision belongs to your court or officer. Ask them before you buy. If they don't accept your certificate, you get a full refund.
Is your class "court approved"?
No state keeps a list that approves online anger management or impulse control classes, so no provider can honestly claim that. What counts is whether your court or officer accepts the certificate. Ours is court-accepted in most jurisdictions, your officer can verify it online, and you get your money back if it's not accepted.
What should I ask my officer before I buy?
Three things: Is an online, self-paced class OK? How many hours? Is "Anger Management" or "Impulse Control & Decision Making" the right course? You can send them our page for probation officers.
Are there free court-accepted anger management classes?
Some sites offer free lessons. Before you choose one, check whether the certificate costs extra, whether there's an enrollment letter, and whether your officer can verify the certificate online. Our classes start at $29 with all of that included, plus a refund if your court doesn't accept it.
What if my court says no?
Send us the written rejection and the official's contact details within 60 days of finishing, and we refund 100% of the course fee. Refund terms →
Do you offer domestic violence, batterer intervention, DUI or parenting classes?
No. Those usually must come from a state-certified program. Our classes are not a substitute for them.
Choosing a class
How many hours do I need?
The number on your paperwork. If it isn't clear, ask your officer. If you pick wrong, you can switch for free within 7 days, before you start the first lesson.
My order says "weeks," not "hours." What do I do?
A 12- or 52-week order usually means one session a week, which is a different requirement from hours of instruction. Ask your officer what they'll accept before buying. We don't offer a weekly-format class yet.
Anger management or impulse control — which one?
Whichever your paperwork names. Orders that say "decision making" or "cognitive decision making" usually mean Impulse Control & Decision Making. Orders that say "anger" mean Anger Management.
How much does it cost?
4 hours $29 · 8 hours $49 · 12 hours $65 · 16 hours $79. The certificate and enrollment letter are included.
Taking the class
How does the timer work?
It counts only active time — reading, watching or listening to the lesson video, doing exercises — and logs it on our server. It pauses after a few minutes of no activity. More on the timer →
Can I finish faster than the hours on my certificate?
No. The final test unlocks only after the full hours are logged. If you read quickly, you get extra practice material, and that time counts.
Can I take it on my phone?
Yes. Every lesson works on a phone and includes a short animated video explainer with captions.
What if I can't read well?
Lessons are written in short, plain sentences, with illustrations, and each one has a short animated video explainer with voice and captions. The timer counts watching it.
Do I have to finish in one sitting?
No. Stop any time. Your place and your hours are saved after every screen.
What if I fail the final test?
Retake it as many times as you need. Each try has a fresh set of questions, and your best score goes on the certificate.
Is this therapy?
No. It's an educational course that teaches skills. It's not therapy, counseling or a clinical evaluation, and it doesn't diagnose anything. If you're in crisis, call or text 988. If someone is in danger, call 911.
Will anyone read my journal answers?
No. Your journal is private. Progress reports show only that an exercise was completed, never what you wrote.
Certificate and proof
When do I get proof I enrolled?
The minute you pay. Your enrollment letter PDF is emailed to you and saved in your dashboard.
What's on the certificate?
Your full legal name, the course and hours, start and completion dates, your final test result, a certificate ID, a QR code and our contact details. See a sample →
Where do I put my case number?
On your own copy of the PDF. There are blank fields for case number, court and date of birth. You fill them in your browser; they never reach our servers.
How does my officer know it's real?
They enter the certificate ID and your last name at goodstandingcourses.com/verify and see the same name, hours and dates. An edited PDF won't match.
Why does a verifiable certificate matter?
Officers see fake certificates. A certificate they can check against our records in seconds is one they don't have to doubt.
My name is misspelled. Can I fix it?
Yes. One correction is free. Contact us.
Can I get a paper copy mailed?
Yes, as an option at checkout or from your dashboard.
Privacy and payment
What personal information do you collect?
Your legal name (for the certificate), email, optionally your state, and your course activity (time logged, quiz and test results). We never collect your case number, court, date of birth or details of your case. Privacy policy →
How do I pay?
By card through Stripe. Prices are in US dollars. We never see or store your card number.
